Here in the Northwest, water motion can have a tremendous effect on the diver. In fact, the sea can be a hostile environment to a diver who is not prepared. With proper training, common sense and knowledge of the local area, the diver can deal with any minor problems of moving water.

Do you know the difference between tides and currents? Do you know which direction a flood or ebb tide is moving? Here in the San Juan Islands it is extremely important that we plan our dives around these currents. Learn how to read a current guide and calculate the best time to dive in that area.

This course consists of 1-classroom session and 2-dives in the Open Water.

Equipment requirements: Surface Marker Buoy with finger spool.
