Nanaimo Wrecks & Dodd Narrows Weekend

If you’re a cold water scuba diving enthusiast or just want to be amazed, this is a great dive destination to visit. Nanaimo offers you a little of everything: Great wall diving, Drift diving, Wrecks and other locations with all of the favorite local animals.

The 366 ft. HMCS Saskatchewan was scuttled in 1997 as the first artificial reef in the Nanaimo area. She sits in 130 ft. of water with her main deck at 80-90 ft. and is home to a variety of sealife including giant plumose anemones, lingcod, cabezon, wolfeels, cloud sponges, along with many other smaller marine creatures. The 500 ft. HMCS Cape Breton was scuttled in 2001 as the second artificial reef in the Nanaimo area. She sits in 145 ft. of water (minus a bit of the stern section) with her main deck at 100 ft. She is a short distance away from the HMCS Saskatchewan, just off the shore of Snake Island and is home to a wide variety of marine life. The sunken ships are a major draw for thousands of divers annually.

We will be spending the weekend diving with Shepard Charters, exploring these amazing wrecks. We will be doing 2 dives a day on the wrecks (weather permitting) with an optional third dive on Friday or Saturday (additional charge).  Sunday the currents are great for the Dodd Narrows dive site. We will be staying at the Buccaneer Hotel, which is just a short distance from the boat and local eateries.
