You’ll find our island hidden deep in an archipelago of uninhabited islands, 165 km (105 miles) from the nearest port, and the nearest village is 20 km away by boat.  We are surrounded by the richest reefs in the world, at the very heart of marine biodiversity. There simply are no richer reefs on earth.

Raja Ampat’s marine environments are out of this world. The reefs are a painter’s pallet of color and variety, home to over 1200 species of fish and more marine life than anywhere else on the planet. Big animals are common here, with Manta Ray cleaning stations, schools of Mobala rays and plenty of Shark sightings. One of the rarest sharks seen in these waters is the Woebegong Shark and the walking Shark.

The diversity of dive sites is remarkable; there are some areas where soft corals and sea fans dominate, others with spectacular hard coral seascapes, mangroves, shallow reefs, drop offs, caves, black sand, white sand and seagrass beds. All of these environments combine to house a huge amount of marine life, in more shapes and sizes than anywhere else in the world. All levels of the food chain are well represented, from Pygmy Seahorses to top predators and everything in between. The reefs of Raja Ampat literally buzz with life – beware, sensory overload here is a common problem.
